Amit Verma

Amit Verma's childhood in Bhopal was defined by two obsessions: magic and making people laugh. His grandfather, a retired schoolteacher who performed magic tricks at family gatherings, taught Amit his first card trick at age seven. From that moment, Amit was hooked. He spent his pocket money on magic books and props, and by his teens he was performing at birthday parties and corporate events across Madhya Pradesh. Simultaneously, his natural wit and gift for storytelling made him the centre of attention at every social gathering, leading him naturally toward stand-up comedy. After completing his B.A. in Mass Communication from Barkatullah University, Bhopal, Amit moved to Mumbai to pursue entertainment professionally. He quickly established himself on the Mumbai stand-up circuit, performing at Comedy Store and Canvas Laugh Club, while continuing to develop his magic act. His unique comedy-magic fusion show, Jadoo Ka Tamasha, became a cult hit on the live performance circuit, combining sleight-of-hand illusions with sharp observational humour. His film debut in Jadugar (2023), a Hindi comedy-drama directed by Rajkumar Hirani's associate Abhijat Joshi, cast him as a small-town magician who stumbles into a criminal conspiracy. The role was a perfect showcase for Amit's dual talents, requiring both convincing magic performance and comedic timing. He performed all his own magic sequences, and the film's climactic escape scene, which combined illusion with slapstick comedy, became the most-shared clip from the film. He followed this with the ensemble comedy Bhopal Express, playing the comic relief in a road movie about friends reuniting for a wedding.
