Deepak Sharma

Deepak Sharma grew up in the hill station of Shimla, where the Himalayan foothills were his childhood playground. While other boys played cricket, Deepak was scaling boulders on the outskirts of town and hiking through pine forests with his father, a retired Indian Army mountaineer who had summited multiple Himalayan peaks. By his teens, Deepak was a competitive rock climber, representing Himachal Pradesh at the national level and training at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering in Manali. Alongside climbing, Deepak developed a deep yoga practice under the guidance of a local Iyengar yoga teacher. The combination of rock climbing's physical demands and yoga's body awareness gave him an extraordinary physical control that would later become invaluable in cinema. After completing his B.A. in Tourism Management from Himachal Pradesh University, Deepak moved to Mumbai, where he initially worked as a fitness trainer for Bollywood actors before being encouraged by his clients to try acting himself. He enrolled in a six-month acting program at the Anupam Kher Actor Prepares studio and was immediately noticed for his natural screen presence and the calm intensity that came from years of solo climbing at dangerous heights. His debut in Pahad (2023), a Hindi adventure thriller set in the Himalayas directed by Abhishek Kapoor, was a physically demanding role that no other actor could have performed. Playing a mountain rescue specialist, Deepak did all his own climbing sequences at real Himalayan locations. He followed this with the ecological drama Barfani Jheel, shot at high-altitude lakes.
