Rajesh Kumar

Rajesh Kumar grew up in the Kankarbagh neighbourhood of Patna, where the only entertainment for most boys was cricket and the occasional Bollywood film at the local single-screen theatre. But Rajesh was different. Inspired by watching boxing matches on a neighbour's television, he convinced his father, a schoolteacher, to let him train at the Patna Boxing Academy. By eighteen, Rajesh had won the Bihar state boxing championship in the welterweight category and was being scouted for the national team. A shoulder injury ended his competitive boxing career, but it opened a new door. A chance meeting with Bhojpuri film stunt coordinator Raju Singh led to work as a stunt performer, where Rajesh's boxing footwork and pain tolerance made him invaluable. He soon realized he wanted to act, not just fight, and enrolled in a six-month acting program at the Barry John Acting Studio in Mumbai. His teachers were struck by his raw emotional intensity and his ability to channel the discipline of athletic training into dramatic performance. His acting debut in Bihari Tiger (2023), a Bhojpuri action drama directed by Nikhil Dwivedi, showcased his imposing physical presence and surprisingly tender emotional range. Playing a young boxer from rural Bihar who fights his way to a national championship, Rajesh performed all his own fight sequences and brought audiences to tears in the film's emotional climax. He followed this with the Hindi social drama Dhaaga, playing a factory worker fighting for his rights, and the action film Mukkebaz Returns.
