Suresh Pillai

Suresh Pillai discovered his gift for voices early. Growing up in Kottayam, the literary capital of Kerala, he was surrounded by a rich oral storytelling tradition. His grandmother's bedtime tales, told in a dozen different character voices, inspired young Suresh to develop his own vocal repertoire. By his school years, he was the undisputed champion of elocution and mimicry competitions across Kottayam district, known for his ability to impersonate anyone from politicians to film stars with uncanny accuracy. After completing his M.A. in Mass Communication from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Suresh moved to Kochi to pursue voice acting professionally. He trained under veteran dubbing artist K.P. Ummer's associate at the Kerala Voice Artists Association and quickly became one of the most sought-after dubbing artists in the Malayalam film industry. His ability to match lip movements perfectly while maintaining emotional authenticity made him a favourite with directors who needed Hindi and Tamil films dubbed into Malayalam. His on-screen debut came in the Malayalam comedy Shabdam (2023), directed by Basil Joseph, where he played a dubbing artist who accidentally overhears a murder plot while working on a thriller. The meta-narrative role allowed Suresh to showcase both his voice acting prowess and his natural comedic timing. He followed this with a dramatic turn in the Malayalam thriller Mozhikal, playing a blind voice analyst who helps solve crimes by identifying voices, and voiced the lead character in the animated Malayalam feature Mayavi.
